Meals
Mealtimes are an important part of our nursery day and we aim to provide a balanced, nutritious varied menu. This is achieved by preparing and serving fresh and healthy foods each day.
At First Class Childcare Centres we serve breakfast/ a mid morning snack, a 2-course lunch and an afternoon tea to all the children. Children under the age of two may also have breakfast if required.

Each nursery has its own friendly Nursery Cook who prepares a hot meal at lunch time followed by a dessert. A vegetarian alternative is available each day. At afternoon tea the children are encouraged to explore a variety of savoury finger foods including foods from around the world.
A wide range of fresh fruit, with either milk or water, for mid-morning snack & afternoon tea is offered. Sugary drinks are avoided. The aim is to only have sugary foods once in the day so as to avoid too many acid attacks on the enamel of young teeth.
We aim to incorporate individual dietary requirements especially those relating to allergies into our menus. We also aim to incorporate '5 a day' into our menus, all our fruit and vegetables are provided fresh every week from local suppliers.
First Class Childcare Centres has a weaning policy which is used where applicable for under 2's and we build each child's dietary requirements into their daily routine. We only give food to the child if you have given it to them already at home, this is achieved by working in close harmony with you and sharing information daily.
We take part in the 'SMILING FOR LIFE' campaign and the children and staff have been enthusiastic and are very proud of their certificates that were presented by the local Health Care Trust.
Please note minor daily amendments to our menus may occur, any changes will be notified via the parents notice board/ menu board on a daily basis.
During meal times children sit in small groups to promote a happy social time where interaction is encouraged. This also allows good table manners and social skills to develop. Children also take an active role in assisting the staff which gives the children further learning opportunities.
