Policies

Below are a selection of policies in place across First Class Childcare Centres. For the complete list of all our policies please see the file available for all parents in the nursery office.
Arrivals & Departures Policy
It is the policy of First Class Child Care to give a warm welcome to each child on their arrival.
Parents/carers are requested to pass the care of their child to a specific member of staff who will ensure their safety and that their attendance is recorded in the register. We ask parents to pass on any relevant information regarding their child prior to departing.
Under no circumstances will a child be allowed to depart from nursery unless it is with a previously identified authorised person. We can not hand over a child to another minor (under 16) under any circumstances. A member of staff must always acknowledge the departure of a child.
FCCC operates a password scheme. These passwords will be discussed on registration visits and will be documented on your child entry records.
We also ask parents, should they wish to, to provide photo's of authorised contacts who may pickup a child.
Health & Illness Policy
It our policy at First Class Childcare Centres to encourage and promote good health and hygiene for all the children in our care. This includes monitoring the children for signs and symptoms of communicable diseases. Such as chickenpox, measles, mumps, rubella, meningitis and hepatitis. Also diarrhea, vomiting and fevers of 101F/38C or over.
With the welfare of the sick child in mind and in the interests of the remaining children in the nursery, if in the opinion of staff a child is ill, then the parent or carer will be contacted and requested to collect him/her as soon as possible. In the meantime a senior member of staff will monitor the child's condition and make sure the child is given appropriate care away from other children if necessary.
Should the child have a temperature of 101F/38C or over a senior member of staff will arrange for the child to be sponged down with tepid water and given plenty to drink until the parent/carer arrives.
At FCCC the highest priority will be given to ensuring that all carers looking after each child are fully informed concerning the child's health needs and the daily welfare of each child.
We will provide as far as is reasonably practicable a healthy environment where cross contamination and infection is kept to a minimum.
At FCCC each member of staff is required to report any signs and symptoms of illness in a child to the Manager, Deputy Manager or Team Leader.
Parents will be informed on all matters regarding their children's health when they collect their children or earlier by phone if there is any cause for concern.
In the case of serious accident or illness occurring then the parent/carer will be contacted immediately along with the medical professional and the appropriate action taken. In the unlikely event of the parent not being available the senior staff manager will assume charge and if necessary arrange for the child to be taken by ambulance to hospital with the relevant details.
At FCCC we follow the guidance as laid down by the Department of Health & Hygiene's guidance -
'Communicable Disease Summary- A guide for School and Child Care Settings'
