As in previous years each nursery has nominated a charity of the year to focus their fundraising activites on. The charities chosen were close to the hearts of staff, children and parents. Below you will find all the information on the centres' chosen charities along with links to any websites.
Accrington ~ CHECT (Retinoblastoma)
The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust has been a registered charity since 1987 and was formerly known as The Retinoblastoma Society.
Our aims are:
* To provide information and support to individuals and families with Rb
* To raise awareness of Rb
* To raise funds for research
* To influence professional bodies to ensure optimum service for Rb patients
We achieve this by;
C hallenging the way in which healthcare is delivered in order to derive optimum service delivery for patients. Funding research projects to extend the boundaries of knowledge.
H elping those affected by retinoblastoma by providing support and information, access to a self-help network and links to other related organisations.
E ducating health professionals and others about retinoblastoma and the implications for genetics and other cancers through awareness raising campaigns, literature and training.
C aring for the individual and providing services tailored to their needs at different life-change stages.
T ransforming public perception of eye cancer in children, to raise awareness and take away the fear.
Dill Hall ~ FCCC Dill Hall ~ Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Children's Hospital
The Ronald McDonlad House is situated within the grounds of Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Liverpool. It is a 'home from home' for families whosse children are suffering from the most serious childhood conditions such as leukaemia, heart problems, respiratory problems or as a result of accident or serious infections.
Clayton ~ VICs Visually Impaired Children's Support, Accrington
Visually Impaired Children's Support is a registered charity which aims to provide support and practical assistance to parents by offering; Visually Impaired Children's Playgroup and a Parents Support Group.
Lorraines ~ Cancer Research & Alzheimer's Society

Wesley House ~SpecialCare Baby Unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary
"The neonatal unit treats babies - such as premature babies. the neonatal unit is a 27 cot unit of which six are intensive care, six are high dependency and 15 are low dependency.
The unit can support parents who wish to stay with their baby prior to taking them home - this service is supported by a team of outreach sisters who follow up care in the home environment."
Cliffe House ~ St. Gemma's Hospice & Wheatfield Hospice
"St Gemma's Hospice provides specialist medical and nursing care for people with life threatening illnesses, predominantly cancer, along with support for their families.
Care is offered to patients and their carers in a variety of ways: in the Hospice?s In-Patient Unit, in your own home by our Community Team and via St Gemma's Day Services which includes our Day Hospice and Out-Patients department."
"We care for people both here at the hospice and across the Leeds community.
Sue Ryder Care - Wheatfields Hospice is a Specialist Palliative Care Unit. This means that we enrich the quality of life of those living with, or affected by, a serious illness through the highly specialised skills of an experienced and caring team."
Academy ~ Martin House Hospice
When Martin House opened its doors to children and their families in 1987, we became the second children's hospice in the UK. Martin House Hospice care for Children and Young People with progressive life limiting illnesses, and provide support to their families.
The role of Martin House is to complement home life and to complement and augment hospital and community care. We do this within a philosophy of holistic care, being aware of medical needs, social, emotional and psychological needs, and spiritual support.
